FBI highlights Morocco’s pivotal role in securing 2026 World Cup

The deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Christopher Raia, concluded a high-level visit to the International Police Cooperation Center (IPCC) this Wednesday. The center brings together law enforcement and security officials from countries participating in the 2026 World Cup to coordinate security measures.

During his visit, Raia held a dedicated meeting with representatives from Morocco’s Direction générale de la sûreté nationale (DGSN) and Direction générale de la surveillance du territoire (DGST). He commended the country’s proactive involvement in the tournament’s security framework, emphasizing that the FBI views Morocco as a trustworthy and globally respected partner.

Strengthening global security partnerships for world-class events

Addressing security delegates at the IPCC, Raia underscored the critical role of international cooperation and intelligence-sharing in safeguarding the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the United States. He noted that securing 78 matches over two weeks demands an unprecedented level of collaboration among nations.

The FBI deputy director also praised the sharp rise in thwarted threats on American soil, attributing this success to the timely intelligence provided by partner nations, including Morocco. This partnership, he stressed, is essential to maintaining a robust security posture throughout the tournament.
