Abidjan, July 2026 — The country’s educational landscape is undergoing a seismic shift as the Journées ouvertes pour l’utilisation de la recherche et de l’innovation en éducation (JOURIE 2026) kick off in Abidjan. Hosted at the École nationale supérieure de statistique et d’économie appliquée (ENSEA), this two-day event, organized by the Ministry of National Education, Literacy, and Technical Training, centers on the pivotal theme: ‘Transforming education through digital innovation: sustainable solutions for quality schooling.’

The JOURIE 2026 initiative, concluding tomorrow, is designed to foster a culture of research-driven pedagogy, leveraging scientific findings and technological breakthroughs to elevate Ivory Coast’s education system. By showcasing digital solutions, the event aims to bridge gaps between academic research and classroom practices, ensuring that educational policies are built on robust evidence and forward-thinking strategies.

Dr. Inza Meité, Director of Studies, Planning, and Statistics, emphasized the transformative potential of this year’s edition: “JOURIE 2026 is more than a gathering—it’s a catalyst for collective introspection on how research and digital tools can reshape our schools, from primary classrooms to university lecture halls.”

He further highlighted the ministry’s commitment to integrating digital literacy as a cornerstone of equitable, high-performing education, where technology acts not just as a tool, but as a strategic accelerator for systemic change.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of National Education, Literacy, and Technical Training, Senior Technical Advisor Kouadio Kouman reinforced the government’s resolve to ground educational reforms in data-driven insights. “The theme of this year’s JOURIE underscores a fundamental truth: digital innovation is not an option—it’s the foundation of a fairer, more inclusive, and higher-performing Ivorian school system,” he stated.

Kouman outlined how the event serves as a dynamic platform for stakeholders—researchers, educators, policymakers, and technology developers—to collaborate on critical issues such as governance, infrastructure, teacher training, and digital inclusion.
