Côte d’Ivoire hosts student banker day and mentoring event to boost careers
The second edition of the Student Banker Day (JEB) and the inaugural Mentoring Day, organized by the Association of Alumni and Student Bankers of Félix Houphouët-Boigny University (AEB-UFHB) in collaboration with Afrique Femme, the Ministry of Youth Promotion, Professional Integration and Civic Service, and the Youth Employment Agency, took place at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny University in Cocody.
Mr. Anderson ASSUI, Special Advisor to the Minister of Youth Promotion, Professional Integration and Civic Service, represented the Minister during the opening ceremony.
Innovative TED Talks introduce soft skills and leadership
The first-ever Mentoring Day featured TED Talks designed to enhance the program with discussions on soft skills, leadership, personal development, and mentoring. These sessions aimed to connect students with inspiring leaders and seasoned professionals, preparing them for the job market.
Two dynamic panels shed light on key financial topics
Panel 1: Digitalization and UEMOA interoperability
This panel brought together representatives from the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO), Wave, Djamo, and Visa to explore challenges and opportunities in payment systems, financial innovation, and financial inclusion across the UEMOA region.
Panel 2: Life insurance, pension funds, and economic financing
Led by Jean Kacou Diagou, Founder and President of the NSIA Group, this session focused on life insurance, pension funds, and strategies for economic financing. Through a compelling narrative, Mr. Diagou shared his entrepreneurial journey, emphasizing perseverance, integrity, and long-term vision.
Direct engagement with industry leaders
Throughout the event, students had the chance to interact directly with speakers, receive career guidance, and expand their professional networks through mentoring and networking sessions.
A bridge between academia and finance
By combining the Student Banker Day and Mentoring Day, AEB-UFHB, Afrique Femme, and their partners reinforced their commitment to strengthening ties between academia and the financial sector. Through experience-sharing, mentoring, networking, and skill development, this initiative equips young professionals to meet the evolving demands of the job market and connects them with industry leaders shaping the future of finance.
