Concerns are intensifying across Cameroon regarding the whereabouts of President Paul Biya. At 93 years old and with 44 years in power, his current 58-day disappearance marks the longest absence of his lengthy tenure. Having departed on June 7 for what was described as a “short private stay in Europe,” the Cameroonian head of state has not made any public appearances since. Addressing mounting public inquiries, Communication Minister René Sadi recently affirmed, “The president is alive… There is no power vacuum,” while also promising his return “very soon,” albeit without providing a specific date. This prolonged absence of the Cameroonian president inevitably sparks widespread debate and raises critical questions about potential succession scenarios.
