Diplomatic relations between Morocco and Gambia have entered a new phase of harmony in Rabat. Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita met Thursday with his Gambian counterpart Sering Modou Njie, who traveled to Morocco’s capital as a special envoy of President Adama Barrow.
The focal point of the visit was the delivery of a letter authored by Gambia’s president and addressed directly to Mohammed VI, underscoring the close communication between the two heads of state.
Gratitude for Morocco’s socioeconomic support
Following the meeting, the Gambian foreign affairs chief addressed the media to express his government’s and people’s appreciation for the Alaouite monarch. Njie praised Morocco’s steadfast support for Gambia’s socioeconomic development, noting that this commitment has yielded tangible results through numerous bilateral agreements and strategic initiatives already benefiting the population. These joint efforts are closely coordinated under the strategic guidance of Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and the Moroccans Residing Abroad.

During his remarks, the Gambian minister emphasized his country’s strong determination to further strengthen cooperation ties in areas of mutual interest. He affirmed that current relations are not only excellent but are also rooted in solid values of brotherhood, solidarity, and reciprocal interest, reflecting the shared vision for the future held by Mohammed VI and President Adama Barrow for the well-being of both peoples.
