Ousmane Sonko, President of Senegal’s National Assembly and leader of the ruling Pastef party, has scheduled a press conference for this Tuesday at 5:00 PM GMT.
The announcement comes just a day after Pastef announced it would not participate in the new government formed by Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Lô, citing a sharp disagreement with President Diomaye Faye.
The reasons behind Sonko’s upcoming statement remain unclear, but the move heightens political tensions in Dakar just weeks after a major government reshuffle.
Analysts suggest this press conference could shed light on Pastef’s next steps, including potential opposition strategies or further negotiations with the administration.
