Orange Côte d’Ivoire and UNDP join forces for digital inclusion of young people

Abidjan — Orange Côte d’Ivoire and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have solidified their collaboration by signing a strategic memorandum of understanding aimed at accelerating digital inclusion, empowering young people—particularly young women—and fostering entrepreneurship across Côte d’Ivoire.

Sealed on Wednesday, May 21, 2026, in Abidjan, this agreement reflects the shared commitment of both partners to advance sustainable development and reduce inequalities through innovative, technology-driven solutions.

The initiative outlines joint plans to roll out digital skills training programs, support startups and entrepreneurial hubs, and extend digital initiatives to rural and underserved communities. A central component of these efforts will be the Orange Digital Center, recognized as a pivotal platform for nurturing digital literacy and guiding young entrepreneurs.

Blerta Cela, UNDP Resident Representative in Côte d’Ivoire, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, « This milestone will significantly accelerate digital inclusion and youth entrepreneurship in Côte d’Ivoire by leveraging the strengths of the private sector and international partners for a fairer and more sustainable future. »

Mamadou Bamba, CEO of Orange Côte d’Ivoire, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to empowering young people and vulnerable populations by creating tangible opportunities in the digital economy.

The partners also aim to strengthen Côte d’Ivoire’s position in the global digital economy by aligning their initiatives with the National Development Plan (PND) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
