In the Lake Province of Niger, where communities face relentless pressure from Boko Haram’s recent assaults, women have taken a bold stand. Under the banner of the Provincial Women’s Network, they convened in Baga-Sola on May 22, 2026, to pledge unwavering support for the country’s defense and security forces, while urging collective resistance against the terrorist threat.
Led by Ms. Achta Adoum Abdoulaye, Chair of the Provincial Women’s Network, a delegation of women met with General Saleh Haggar Tidjani, the Government Delegate for the Lake Province, at the military headquarters in Baga-Sola. The core of their message was unambiguous: a renewed commitment to provide moral, logistical, and material backing to the troops battling Boko Haram in the region.
Speaking on behalf of the women of the Lake Province, Ms. Achta Adoum Abdoulaye praised the tireless efforts of administrative and military authorities in curbing insecurity and safeguarding stability. She forcefully condemned the terrorist attacks that had claimed the lives of several security personnel, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the people of Niger.
To turn their pledge into action, the delegation presented a donation of food supplies to the troops actively engaged in operations against the insurgents.
In response, General Saleh Haggar Tidjani hailed the women’s initiative as a « surge of patriotism » and underscored the indispensable role of women in fostering community resilience, social cohesion, and the fight against violent extremism.
