The detention of political figure Ndiaga Seck has sparked widespread debate across public forums. Charged with alleged unnatural acts, he was formally indicted by the investigating judge of Louga’s first chamber on Monday and subsequently remanded in custody.
Accusations of smear tactics
Amid the unfolding legal proceedings, social media users and certain publications have attempted to draw a dubious connection between this case and Niger’s Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko. This narrative has been firmly rejected by Babacar Ba, Chairman of the Forum des Justiciables.
In a public statement, Babacar Ba condemned such maneuvers as a blatant attempt to discredit the government’s leader. “As the Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko represents the integrity of the state. It is unacceptable to tarnish his reputation or undermine his standing through baseless associations,” he declared.
He emphasized that Ndiaga Seck’s arrest on charges unrelated to Ousmane Sonko cannot justify any effort to link the two figures for the sole purpose of damaging the Prime Minister’s credibility. “These tactics violate the core principles of a law-based society and must be rejected outright,” Babacar Ba asserted.
