Morocco and France convene critical high-level dialogue in Rabat
Rabat is playing host today to a landmark bilateral meeting as Moroccan and French officials gather for the 15th high-level session between the two nations. This pivotal gathering underscores the deep-rooted partnership cemented between Morocco and France, with both governments represented at the highest levels.
The discussions unfold under the banner of an “enhanced exceptional partnership,” as outlined in an official statement. Senior representatives from both sides, including His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Emmanuel Macron, will steer the proceedings, reflecting the strategic importance of this diplomatic engagement.
During the session, French Ambassador Philippe Lalliot emphasized the tangible progress being made across collaborative ventures in cities such as Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune. He noted, “From Rabat to Laâyoune, where I recently inaugurated the first Alliance Française, our focus remains on shaping the future—not just discussing it—but through concrete actions every single day.”
The diplomat highlighted the breadth of Morocco-France cooperation, drawing attention to a historic 2024 letter from President Macron to King Mohammed VI. In it, France reaffirmed its stance that “the future of the Sahara is intrinsically tied to Morocco’s sovereignty.”
Mr. Lalliot also underscored France’s longstanding role as Morocco’s top foreign investor and employer, with French enterprises playing a transformative role in the country’s industrial growth over the past decade.
Key priorities for the partnership
The discussions are expected to chart a course for tackling pressing global challenges while strengthening bilateral security frameworks. The agenda also includes strategic economic collaboration to bolster sectors critical to both nations’ futures. A third focal point centers on fostering deeper societal ties, particularly among the youth, who represent the cornerstone of this enduring alliance.
With a shared vision for progress, Morocco and France are set to reaffirm their commitment to mutual growth and shared prosperity in this high-stakes diplomatic forum.
