Luther Meka: “appalled by Mamadou Mota’s French, a disgrace to classical literature”
André Luther Meka, communications officer for Cameroon’s ruling party, expressed outrage over the linguistic incompetence displayed by Mamadou Mota, vice-president of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, during a televised debate.
André Luther Meka, communications officer of Cameroon’s ruling party, criticized Mamadou Mota’s deplorable command of the French language during a recent televised debate.
Mota, vice-president of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, appeared on the program La Vérité en Face on Equinoxe TV on Sunday, June 28, 2026, where he defended Maurice Kamto’s return to the leadership of the party amid internal dissent.
Luther Meka took to social media to express his shock and dismay at Mota’s grammatical errors and linguistic failings. “I watched with great interest the June 28 episode of La Vérité en Face on YouTube,” he wrote. “I was appalled by Mamadou Mota’s butchering of the French language and his insolence toward proper morphosyntax and conceptual precision. It was nothing short of a massacre of the language of Ronsard and Lamartine—the pinnacle of mediocrity exposed on television last Sunday. Good heavens!”
