Gabon’s industrial push gains momentum with european partnerships

Libreville recently hosted a pivotal industrial summit, drawing attention to the nation’s bold vision for economic transformation. The event, held at the Chamber of Commerce and running through June 26, brought together government leaders, economic stakeholders, and European partners to tackle critical industrialization and local value addition challenges.

The gathering underscored Gabon’s strategic focus on enhancing its manufacturing sector as a cornerstone of economic growth. Key discussions centered on how European enterprises can contribute to this national development agenda.

French Ambassador to Gabon, Fabrice Mauriès, highlighted the return of more than 30 European companies—particularly in the energy sector—and emphasized the need to bolster Gabon’s competitive edge in the global market.

Me Lubin Ntoutoume, Minister of Industry and Local Transformation, reiterated the government’s commitment to positioning Gabon as a hub for wealth creation, skilled employment, and technological expertise through the processing of its abundant natural resources.

Vice-President of the Government, Hermann Immongault, framed these efforts within the broader National Plan for Growth and Development (PNCD). He outlined a transformative roadmap for 2026–2030, positioning industrialization, local value addition, and economic diversification as the primary engines of future prosperity.

“This vision is now taking concrete shape through the PNCD 2026–2030, which identifies industrialization, local transformation, and economic diversification as the key drivers of growth. The plan outlines investments totaling 27 trillion CFA francs, with 18 trillion earmarked for industrial development,” he stated.

As Gabon accelerates its industrial ambitions, collaboration with European partners remains central to achieving sustainable economic progress and reducing reliance on raw material exports.
