Côte d’Ivoire’s coffee-cocoa campaign launches with new farmgate prices at 10th JNCC

Abidjan is set to host the official launch of the 2026-2027 coffee and cocoa campaign on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. This significant event coincides with the 10th edition of the National Cocoa and Chocolate Days (JNCC), taking place at the Abidjan Exhibition Park, where crucial farmgate prices will be unveiled.

The highly anticipated new pricing structure for the upcoming campaign is expected to be announced by the Vice-President of the Republic, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, acting on behalf of President Alassane Ouattara.

Reflecting on the previous campaign, the 2025-2026 main season, which spanned from October 2025 to February 2026, saw a record farmgate price of 2,800 FCFA per kilogram. However, the subsequent intermediate campaign, running from March to August 2026, experienced a significant adjustment, with prices decreasing to 1,200 FCFA per kilogram. This reduction was a direct consequence of a downturn in international cocoa market prices.

Côte d’Ivoire proudly maintains its position as the world’s foremost cocoa producer, contributing an estimated 40% to the global supply of this vital commodity.

For the 2025-2026 campaign, national cocoa production reached approximately 2.2 million tonnes. This period was notably characterized by considerable volatility in export markets and a state intervention that involved the repurchase of around 123,000 tonnes of residual beans amidst a temporary slowdown in global commercialization.

Looking ahead to the 2026-2027 campaign, production forecasts indicate potential challenges. Constraints such as adverse climatic conditions and the aging of cocoa plantations could impact yields. Some market projections suggest a possible decline in Ivorian production, potentially settling around 1.8 million tonnes.

Scheduled from September 1 to 3, the 10th edition of the JNCC represents a pivotal gathering for the entire coffee and cocoa sector. It provides an essential platform for dialogue, the promotion of innovative initiatives, and the strengthening of collaborations among institutional, economic, and professional stakeholders.

This landmark anniversary edition is poised to mark a new chapter in the history of the JNCC. The agenda includes engaging meetings, opportunities for sharing experiences, fostering local expertise, and facilitating networking among various participants within the industry.

The comprehensive program features a range of activities, including conferences, expert panels, exhibition spaces, dedicated business meetings, and networking sessions. The overarching goal is to elevate the JNCC’s role as a preeminent platform for fostering dialogue, driving innovation, promoting cooperation, and supporting the sustainable development of the sector.

Furthermore, the 10th edition will serve as an opportune moment to review the achievements of previous JNCC events, highlight significant progress made, and chart new pathways for the sustainable growth and enhanced competitiveness of Côte d’Ivoire’s vital coffee and cocoa industry.
