This two-day working and friendship visit underscores the commitment of both nations to fortify bilateral relations and explore new avenues of cooperation. During the meeting at the Palais Rénovation, the Malagasy delegation and the Gabonese leadership engaged in productive talks focusing on deepening economic, political, and institutional exchanges.
The Gabonese transition process was highlighted through a presentation by Professor Guy Rossatanga-Rignault, who outlined the key milestones that guided the restoration of constitutional order. President Oligui Nguema reaffirmed Gabon’s full support for Madagascar’s ongoing institutional rebuilding efforts, emphasizing shared values of stability and democratic governance.
In response, President Randrianirina expressed admiration for Gabon’s governance model, particularly its approach to institutional consolidation. Both leaders commended the strong historical ties between Gabon and Madagascar and reaffirmed their dedication to advancing mutual prosperity.
This visit comes nearly a year after Colonel Randrianirina assumed leadership in Madagascar following widespread youth-led protests triggered by severe water and electricity shortages that led to the ousting of former President Andry Rajoelina.
