Expert warns of manipulated youth amid Cameroon’s poverty crisis

In a scathing analysis, electoral expert Jean Paul Ntsengue has exposed what he calls a deliberate scheme to keep Cameroonian youth in poverty as a tool for political manipulation. His remarks come amid growing concerns over the country’s economic challenges and their impact on the younger generation.

The analyst, known for his sharp political commentary, minced no words in his assessment. He accused unnamed individuals of deliberately worsening poverty among Cameroonians, creating a vulnerable population ripe for exploitation. “Poverty is a fatal danger to the Republic,” he stated, emphasizing how economic hardship leaves young people susceptible to manipulation by those seeking personal gain.

Ntsengue specifically targeted what he described as “irresponsible plunderers of public wealth,” “corrupt politicians,” and individuals driven by “unbridled ambition.” According to him, these actors have blocked competent leaders from supporting President Paul Biya in his governance efforts, opting instead to promote mediocre figures loyal to their interests. He argued that these actions have deepened societal divisions and hindered the nation’s progress.

In his strongly worded statement, Ntsengue acknowledged President Biya’s leadership but urged support for his continued efforts to cement his legacy as a democrat and prosperity-builder. “God is never distracted,” he remarked, suggesting that the consequences of such divisive politics will inevitably catch up with their perpetrators. “All things come to an end,” he added, calling for unwavering support for the President’s vision.

Youth vulnerability and political exploitation

The electoral expert highlighted how poverty has rendered many young Cameroonians desperate, making them easy targets for political manipulation. He claimed that some leaders deliberately perpetuate economic struggles to maintain control, offering false promises of wealth redistribution in exchange for blind loyalty, particularly on social media platforms.

Ntsengue’s critique extends beyond mere observation. He accused these actors of obstructing genuine talent and expertise from reaching positions of influence, instead favoring individuals who serve their interests. This, he argued, has stifled the country’s potential and deepened its challenges.

A call for unity and support

Amid these revelations, Ntsengue extended a call for national unity, urging citizens to rally behind President Biya’s vision for a prosperous and democratic Cameroon. He framed the current moment as a critical juncture, where collective support could help overcome the country’s deep-rooted challenges.

“The President, chosen by Providence, knows what must be done to enter history honorably,” Ntsengue wrote. “Let us offer him our unwavering support for this second half without extra time.”
