Since the official declaration of the Ebola Bundibugyo virus disease on May 15 in eastern DR Congo, response efforts have been swiftly mobilized across affected health zones in Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu. As a result, 19 patients have recovered and been discharged from the Ebola Treatment Center (ETC), according to the National Institute of Public Health (INSP).
As of June 7, health data shows 550 confirmed cases, including 101 deaths, across all affected zones, with 309 patients currently in isolation for treatment.
Ituri remains the epicenter of the outbreak, with 17 of the 25 affected health zones located in this province—nearly half of Ituri’s 36 total health zones. The most affected areas include Aru, Aungba, Bambu, Bunia, Damas, Gety, Kilo, Komanda, Lita, Logo, Mambasa, Mangala, Mongbwalu, Nizi, Nyankunde, Rimba, and Rwampara.
