Bénin’s electoral commission leaders enhance skills in India for AI-driven elections

Several senior officials from Bénin’s National Autonomous Electoral Commission (CENA) are actively participating in an international training program in New Delhi, India. Running from July 6 to 10, 2026, this specialized session focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into electoral processes.

CENA du Bénin

Organized by the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program, this initiative aims to bolster the expertise of electoral officials in the practical applications of AI within election organization and management.

Throughout the training, participants are delving into a range of critical subjects, including the strategic deployment of artificial intelligence in electoral administration, principles of digital governance, ethical considerations, human rights protection, robust cybersecurity measures, risk management protocols, and the legal frameworks governing the use of these advanced technologies.

The comprehensive curriculum features engaging lectures, in-depth case studies, hands-on practical demonstrations, interactive workshops, and valuable exchanges of experiences with leading experts and representatives from electoral bodies across various nations.

For Bénin’s CENA, this forward-thinking initiative is a cornerstone of its broader strategy to modernize electoral administration. It is designed to equip the institution to meet the evolving challenges of digital transformation and to foster electoral processes that are increasingly transparent, efficient, and secure, leveraging cutting-edge technological innovations.
