On Wednesday, May 14, 2026, the National Superior Police School in Porto-Novo hosted the inauguration ceremony for specialized preparatory courses. These programs are designed to equip participants with the Brevet d’Études Supérieures de Sécurité (Bess), the Diplôme d’État-Major des Forces de Sécurité (Demes), and the Diplôme Spécial d’État-Major des Forces de Sécurité.
This formal induction signifies a pivotal moment in bolstering the capabilities of Bénin’s domestic security forces. Commissioner Yekpe underscored the critical importance of cultivating a forward-looking perspective among trainees regarding national, sub-regional, and global security challenges.
“For this cohort, the National Superior Police School has assembled a team of highly qualified instructors, experienced national and international speakers, and dedicated pedagogical support committed to your success. The curriculum will delve into crucial areas such as police strategy, human and operational resource management, effective command, and both internal and cross-border security issues,” he affirmed.

He further urged all participants to approach their studies with unwavering rigor, discipline, and commitment.
The ceremony concluded with a thought-provoking inaugural conference. The Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at the University of Parakou delivered a keynote address exploring the vital intersection of “Rule of Law, Republican Police, and Security Challenges.”
With the introduction of these advanced training programs, the National Superior Police School aims to significantly enhance the professionalization of the Republican Police.
