Speaking from Ziguinchor, Chérif Bouna Samsidine Aïdara emphasized that Senegal is currently navigating challenging times, advocating for a national embrace of peace and resilience.
“We are observing situations at the apex of the state, indeed a crisis at the highest level,” he declared. “Our leaders must be given the opportunity to collaborate and achieve mutual understanding.”
The prominent figure stressed the critical necessity for both key executive leaders to adopt a posture of resilience, essential for preserving the nation’s stability.
“The President of the Republic must exhibit resilience. The Prime Minister must also be resilient,” he underscored. “They should internalize the principles of the International Day of Peace to guide Senegal towards its most promising trajectory.”
According to Chérif Bouna Samsidine Aïdara, the prevailing atmosphere is a significant source of concern among the Senegalese population.
“What we are experiencing and what we are hearing in the public sphere does not reassure us. The Senegalese people are apprehensive. We earnestly hope our country avoids such high-level governmental discord,” he affirmed.
Ultimately, he directed a fervent appeal to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, urging them to prioritize dialogue and de-escalation for the greater good of the country.
