Lens vs PSG: the high-stakes Ligue 1 clash not available on Ligue 1+
This isn’t just another matchday for the French top flight. With Paris Saint-Germain on the brink of securing their 14th Ligue 1 title, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Luis Enrique’s side heads to Bollaert-Delelis Stadium at 21:00 this Wednesday, aiming to clinch the championship before the season finale. A victory here would not only end the suspense early but also allow the team to focus fully on their upcoming UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal on May 30.
Originally slated for a beIN Sports time slot
The highly anticipated fixture was originally scheduled for Saturday, April 11, at 17:15—right in the slot typically reserved for Ligue 1 broadcasts on beIN Sports. However, with Paris Saint-Germain juggling Champions League quarter-final fixtures against Liverpool on April 8 and 14, the club requested a postponement. The tight schedule, featuring three matches in under a week including two away trips, made it nearly impossible for the team to compete.
While Racing Club de Lens initially opposed the date change, France’s Ligue de Football Professionnel ultimately sided with Paris Saint-Germain and moved the game to May 13. Even with the rescheduling, beIN Sports retained exclusive rights to the broadcast, as agreed in the original deal.
If PSG triumph in Lens, they will officially celebrate their 14th league title. Should they fall short, the championship could still slip away until their next match against Paris FC, while Lens faces Lyon. Yet with a comfortable six-point lead, the suspense for PSG’s title hopes has largely evaporated.
