UK and Morocco strengthen strategic partnership talks
London eyes doubling bilateral trade with Rabat amid diplomatic momentum
The UK’s Minister of State for International Trade, Chris Bryant, concluded a productive visit to Rabat that solidified the growing momentum in UK-Morocco relations. During discussions with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Bryant emphasized that the UK views Morocco as a land of opportunity and aims to significantly expand bilateral trade in the coming years.
Britain seeks to double current trade volumes—valued at approximately £4.5 billion—over the next five to seven years, according to statements made during the visit. The UK’s ambition reflects a broader push to strengthen economic ties with Morocco, particularly in the lead-up to major international sporting events.
Bryant, accompanied by a delegation of over 50 companies specializing in large-scale event management, is in Morocco to participate in the Morocco-UK Business Forum, taking place on June 2-3, 2026. The forum underscores the two nations’ commitment to deepening collaboration across multiple sectors.
Beyond commerce, the UK is positioning itself as a strategic partner for Morocco in hosting global events, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup. This partnership was further reinforced during the fourth session of the Morocco-UK Association Council, which was announced alongside these discussions.
