Paris Saint-Germain targets new Russian prospects
The summer 2024 transfer window marked a bold move for Paris Saint-Germain with the unexpected signing of Matvey Safonov. The Russian goalkeeper joined from Krasnodar for a reported €20 million, shattering expectations and reshaping the team’s dynamics. Once considered a backup to Gianluigi Donnarumma, Safonov has since surpassed expectations, outshining newly signed Lucas Chevalier—a €55 million acquisition—to secure his place between the posts. Unless injury intervenes, he is poised to start in goal for the Champions League final against Arsenal on May 30.
Luis Campos turns focus to promising Russian talents
The success of Safonov’s transfer has opened doors for Luis Campos, who is now actively scouting Russian talent. Among the names on his radar is Aleksey Batrakov, a 20-year-old attacking midfielder who has delivered 17 goals and 12 assists in 35 matches for Lokomotiv Moscow this season. Campos has reportedly traveled to Moscow to discuss a potential move, with Vladimir Kuzmichev, Batrakov’s agent, confirming ongoing talks: «There are indications that either Campos or a close associate will visit the club to finalize discussions.»
Could PSG sign two more Russian stars?
Another target is Matvey Kislyak, a 20-year-old midfielder from CSKA Moscow. His technical profile aligns with Luis Enrique’s tactical preferences, and his potential arrival could balance the scales if Lee Kang-In departs. Kislyak, a 9-time capped Russian international with a goal to his name, has contributed 6 goals and 6 assists in 28 league appearances this season. His contract runs until 2029, making him a long-term investment for the club.
