Psg arsenal final draws smaller tv audience than historic 2025 triumph

The Paris Saint-Germain failed to replicate last season’s record-breaking television audience as their 2-0 victory over Arsenal in Budapest drew fewer viewers than the 2025 final against Inter Milan.

The Parisians’ second consecutive Champions League crown peaked at 6.2 million viewers on M6, with a late surge pushing the final figure to 13.5 million. However, this still fell short of the 11.5 million who tuned in to watch PSG dominate the Italian side 5-0 exactly one year earlier.

Canal+ saw 2.9 million viewers during the match, marking a drop of more than two million compared to the previous season’s broadcast. Analysts attribute the decline to scheduling conflicts, particularly the simultaneous third-round clash of Moïse Kouamé at Roland-Garros, which pulled significant attention away from the football spectacle.

The French teenager, fresh off his victory over Alejandro Tabilo at 4:15 PM local time, found himself in direct competition with PSG’s showpiece event. Despite the unfavorable timing, Kouamé’s performance still drew 3 million viewers to his match, with viewership naturally dipping as the Champions League final kicked off at 6 PM.

Speaking to reporters after his four-set defeat, Kouamé—decked out in a PSG jersey—joked about catching the closing moments of football’s biggest stage. “I caught the penalties—including the worst moment, I think!” he laughed, referencing his team’s dramatic loss. “It’s a small consolation after losing my match, but I’ll take it.”
