Ligue des champions : débordements dans Paris et près de 300 interpellations suite à la victoire du PSG
Nearly 300 individuals were taken into custody across Paris following widespread disturbances and confrontations with law enforcement that overshadowed the PSG’s Champions League victory in the capital on Saturday, May 30, 2026.

“While there were celebratory gatherings, they were unfortunately marred by a number of disturbances, a situation we had anticipated and prepared for,” stated Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez during a press briefing around 1:30 AM on Sunday. He confirmed a total of “416 arrests, with 283 occurring within the greater Paris area alone.”
The Minister emphatically declared, “These acts of disorder are utterly unacceptable.”
Authorities also reported seven police officers sustained injuries nationwide, including one serious head trauma suffered by an officer in Agen. These incidents were part of a wider pattern of unrest across approximately fifteen cities, featuring acts of looting in locations such as Rennes, Strasbourg, Clermont-Ferrand, and Grenoble.
In Reims, Mayor Arnaud Robinet conveyed via Facebook that there had been “a few arrests” in his city.
Earlier, the Paris Police Prefecture announced the confiscation of 24 flares and approximately 100 fireworks mortars. Damage was also reported to six vehicles and two businesses near Porte de Saint-Cloud – a bakery and a restaurant. Further south, continuous fireworks displays and young individuals scaling a fire truck were observed.
The Interior Minister further detailed, “Four attempts to obstruct the périphérique were met with extremely swift police intervention, systematically clearing the blockades.”
Projectiles were hurled at security forces near the Champs-Elysées, where an initial crowd of 4,000 to 5,000 gathered during the match, swelling to thousands more after the final whistle, according to police reports.
In the 8th arrondissement, individuals attempted to breach a police station before being dispersed by officers.
Reports indicated one person sustained a knife wound in Barbès, while an inebriated man fell into the Seine in the 5th arrondissement.
Near the Parc des Princes, approximately 150 individuals “attempted to force entry through a stadium gate.” However, a rapid police maneuver successfully repelled them, restoring calm moments later.
Subsequently, clashes erupted between police and supporters near Porte de Saint-Cloud, in the vicinity of the Parc. Fireworks mortars were launched at officers, who responded with tear gas.
The prefecture emphasized its “meticulous preparation of the security arrangements for the Champions League final,” alongside other major events concurrently taking place in the capital, including a rugby match, ongoing Roland-Garros tennis tournament, and several concerts, such as Aya Nakamura at Stade de France and rapper Damso at Paris La Défense Arena.
transport networks disrupted
With an extraordinary mobilization of 22,000 police and gendarmes, including 8,000 deployed specifically for Paris and its surrounding areas, security forces had implemented an unprecedented operational plan.
Police authorities reiterated their commitment to “guaranteeing a festive, calm, and fully secure public celebration,” stressing directives for “responsiveness, engagement, and firmness.”
Numerous public transport services were brought to a halt. IDF Mobilité announced on X, “Due to extensive gatherings, the network is severely impacted with many lines suspended to ensure the safety of passengers and drivers.”
For comparison, the previous year saw 5,400 police and gendarmes deployed in Paris and its agglomeration, resulting in 563 arrests (491 in Paris) and 307 detentions (202 in Paris).
The victorious players are scheduled to participate in a parade on Sunday afternoon at the Champs-de-Mars (15th arrondissement), where nearly 100,000 people are anticipated, before being received by President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysée Palace.
