Niger’s government unveils recruitment drive for 2 300 civil service positions in 2026
The Nigerien government has officially announced recruitment plans for 2 305 positions across various public administration sectors as part of the 2026 fiscal year. The Minister of Civil Service and Administrative Reform has initiated the process by publishing 36 decrees outlining participation guidelines. These documents detail the distribution of available roles within the public sector.
For standard recruitment, a total of 890 positions are open, including 470 direct entry roles in financial regulators, agriculture, mining and geology, civil engineering, livestock and maritime fisheries, telecommunications, and public health. Additionally, 100 spots are reserved for training programs at the National Institute of Youth and Sports (INJS) and National Youth and Sports Centers (CENAJES). Another 220 positions are allocated for training at the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM), while 100 spots are available through selective testing.
In the realm of special recruitment, 1 200 positions will be filled—1 000 of which are for free auditors in teacher training colleges (ENS) and technical education schools (ENSET). Another 200 roles target specialist medical professionals, complementing 920 healthcare positions already announced in early April 2026. Candidates applying for free auditor roles will select their preferred teaching institution during the application process and take exams at regional centers hosting their chosen schools.
The final 215 openings will be filled through professional recruitment exams.
Notably, the 2026 recruitment drive represents a reduction of 555 positions compared to 2025, when the government opened 2 860 posts for civil service recruitment.
