New leadership takes charge at Niger water association

Delegates at the Niger Water Professionals Association (AMEPA) convened for a pivotal meeting, electing a fresh leadership team poised to guide the sector for the next four years. The newly formed board and executive committee, comprising 27 and 12 members respectively, represent a cross-section of public and private stakeholders driving the country’s water industry forward.

The gathering also served as a platform to review critical reports. Members endorsed the moral and financial accounts of the association while unanimously passing amendments to its statutes. These changes aim to modernize AMEPA’s operations, ensuring alignment with the evolving water sector landscape in Niger and reinforcing the organization’s strategic role in advancing industrial sovereignty within the industry.

Established in 1997, AMEPA now unites over 95 active members, including public and private operators, regional multiservice companies, concessionaires, and specialized engineering firms focused on potable water and sanitation. The shift in governance reflects a broader ambition to foster a more cohesive and resilient ecosystem, elevating Niger’s expertise in water management, engineering, and technology to new heights across the continent and beyond.
