Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, met with Kuwait’s Director-General of Civil Aviation, Cheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, in Rabat to discuss ways to enhance air navigation cooperation between the two nations. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 29th general assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, hosted in Morocco.

During the discussions, both officials reviewed strategies to reinforce air safety and security while exploring opportunities to deepen bilateral collaboration. Kayouh highlighted the strong historical ties between Morocco and Kuwait, emphasizing the importance of reviving direct air links between Kuwait City and Casablanca. He confirmed that Royal Air Maroc is committed to reinstating this route promptly, following the arrival of its latest long-haul aircraft fleet.

Cheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah noted that the delegations also addressed plans to expand air traffic between Kuwait and Morocco, anticipating a significant rise in tourism ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The tournament, co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, is expected to draw a substantial number of visitors from the Gulf region and beyond.

The assembly concluded with the election of new leadership for the Arab Civil Aviation Organization’s governing bodies, including the general assembly, executive council, and technical committees. Additionally, Khalid Cherkaoui was appointed as the organization’s new Director-General for the 2026–2028 term.
