In a match devoid of significant stakes, Paris Saint-Germain faced a 2-1 defeat against Paris FC during the 34th and concluding fixture of the Ligue 1 season. With the domestic league campaign now concluded, the focus for PSG unequivocally shifts towards the highly anticipated UEFA Champions League final.
Following this final Ligue 1 encounter, Marquinhos, the esteemed captain of the Parisian squad, offered his insights on the loss. He provided a concise overview of their Ligue 1 season before articulating the team’s complete dedication to their ultimate goal: the Champions League final.
“We have two weeks to thoroughly prepare for this final objective”
“We consider the entire context, everything that happens here, these are lessons to absorb and areas to improve, especially after a defeat like this. It’s certainly true that we didn’t perform as required. We needed to do better, particularly in the first half where our play wasn’t at our usual standard. We did manage to score in the second half, but we must keep pushing forward,” the PSG captain shared. “We now have a crucial two-week period to meticulously prepare for this final objective we have ahead. The ceremony for our league title was a positive moment. Given the circumstances, it was the only thing we could do. We celebrated that title, having worked incredibly hard throughout the year to earn it. This league is exceptionally challenging to win, especially this season. This is truly an exhilarating end to the season for us, with many more challenges still ahead. Reaching a Champions League final is one of the pinnacle achievements in a season. To play in a final – this is my third here in Paris over 13 years – truly underscores its immense difficulty. It’s an exciting conclusion to the season. Even with today’s loss, we will identify aspects we can enhance. I am confident our coach will be pushing us rigorously over these next two weeks to ensure we refine our performance for this crucial Champions League final.”
