GEMIA honors new generation of Tchad’s troop children

N’Djamena, June 4 – The Groupement des Écoles Militaires Interarmées (GEMIA) celebrated two milestones today: the induction of its sixth cohort of Enfants de Troupe and the recognition of top-performing students. The event drew high-ranking military and civilian leaders, underscoring the nation’s commitment to educational excellence in its armed forces.

The ceremony unfolded under a symbolic sky, with General of Division Hisseine Abderamane Haggar presiding alongside senior officials, including the second chief of staff of the armed forces, Yangmmargue Beh Félix. In attendance were generals, officers, defense attachés from allied nations, the mayor of N’Djamena, the sultan of the first arrondissement, parents, and alumni, all gathered to honor the graduates’ resilience.

The 76 students, who joined on October 6, 2025, endured a rigorous initiation period designed to cultivate camaraderie, discipline, and solidarity. « Today, they shed the label of ‘new recruits’ to become full-fledged Enfants de Troupe, » declared the GEMIA commander. His words underscored the transformation these young cadets undergo, far from the comforts of home, to embrace the values of honor and service.

Emphasizing the vision of President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, the commander reiterated: « The future of Tchad is forged in its schools. » This principle guides the Enfants de Troupe School, whose motto—‘Learn to build better’—reflects its dedication to excellence. The ceremony also celebrated academic and athletic achievements, with top performers receiving accolades and encouragement to sustain their progress.

The GEMIA commander closed by urging partners and the Association of Former Enfants de Troupe to elevate the institution into a model school. He extended warm wishes for a restful break to all personnel and students, while expressing gratitude to parents for their vital role in nurturing the nation’s future leaders.
