Long a focal point of significant political friction, serving as a constant point of contention between the government and opposition factions, Côte d’Ivoire’s Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) has now been officially dissolved. This crucial development was confirmed on May 6 by Amadou Coulibaly, the government spokesperson. He asserted that this move ushers in “a new era,” emphasizing the primary goal: to permanently ensure the conduct of peaceful elections across the nation.
