The outcomes of a comprehensive study examining the incentive aspects of tax policy, coupled with an assessment of the fiscal system and tax administration within Chad’s emerging sectors, were formally presented on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. This significant event took place during a workshop held at a hotel in N’Djamena. The Ministry of Finance spearheaded this research, receiving crucial support from the African Development Bank Group (AfDB).
The gathering brought together key representatives from public administration, private sector stakeholders, and various technical and financial partners. Discussions centered around the detailed conclusions of this analysis, which specifically focused on the vital sectors of mining, banking, and mobile telephony.
The primary objective of the study was to evaluate the current tax framework’s effectiveness and pinpoint essential reforms required to bolster its contribution to Chad’s economic development.
During the extensive work, an in-depth analysis was conducted on the tax policy’s incentive nature, alongside the mechanisms for tax management and collection applied to these burgeoning sectors. The study highlighted the strengths of Chad’s existing tax system while also identifying certain deficiencies that could potentially hinder investment and impede the optimal mobilization of public revenues.
The conclusions presented at the workshop culminated in a series of recommendations and strategic roadmaps designed to guide the implementation of structural reforms. These proposed changes aim to modernize the tax administration, enhance revenue collection, strengthen transparency in the management of public resources, and foster a more attractive environment for investors.
These reforms, according to the organizers, represent a vital catalyst for supporting the diversification of the national economy and promoting sustainable growth within high-potential sectors across Chad.
