Barcola’s lighthearted take on missed chances after psg’s champions league triumph

On Instagram, the PSG forward humorously addressed his squandered opportunities late in the match against the Gunners during the Champions League final.

Despite the euphoria of victory, Bradley Barcola might have found himself dwelling on a pair of significant scoring opportunities. Substituted into the UEFA Champions League final in Budapest at the 83rd minute, where Paris Saint-Germain ultimately triumphed over Arsenal (1-1, 4-3 on penalties), the forward had two clear chances to secure the win for the Parisian club before the tense penalty shootout.

The 23-year-old attacker, Bradley Barcola, first saw an early chance thwarted by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya’s quick intervention in the 85th minute. Then, deep into stoppage time (90+7), he squandered what could have been the decisive goal. After being played through behind the Gunners’ defense, the former Lyon player’s powerful shot from a tight angle veered wide of the target, following a somewhat uncontrolled dribble.

Fortunately for Barcola and the team, their earlier scares amounted to nothing, as PSG ultimately secured the coveted “big-eared cup” for the second consecutive year. Later that evening, Barcola took to his Instagram account, choosing to laugh off his personal missed chances rather than lament them.

“It’s okay, we won”

Sharing a photo of himself alongside teammate Ousmane Dembélé, both proudly holding the trophy, the French international penned a caption that read: “I should have killed the game, but ma3lich (which translates to ‘it’s okay’ in Arabic), we won.”

It’s worth noting that the winger did not step up to take a penalty during the decisive shootout. This proved unnecessary, however, as Paris Saint-Germain clinched the victory with only one missed attempt, securing yet another prestigious European title.
