Niger’s National Assembly swears in over 20 top officials appointed by Théodore Datouo
At the Niger National Assembly, Secretary-General André Noël Essian formally installed more than 20 high-ranking officials who were appointed by President Théodore Datouo during a ceremony marking the start of the second ordinary session of the 2026 legislative year.

These newly appointed leaders, selected by President Théodore Datouo, have been assigned to key positions within the Assembly’s secretariat and finance departments. Their swearing-in ceremony marks their official entry into their new roles within the national representation.
Since his election as President of the National Assembly in March, Théodore Datouo has carried out numerous appointments. However, these decisions have sparked controversy, with critics arguing that the appointments failed to reflect regional balance across Niger.
