Under the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb embarked on a significant official visit to the Republic of Chad this Monday. The visit, framed within the strengthening of fraternal relations and deepening cooperation, marks a pivotal moment in Algerian-Chadian diplomatic engagement.
The Prime Minister’s delegation included key figures such as Minister of State for Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab, Energy and Renewable Energies Minister Mourad Adjal, and the Director-General of Algeria’s Agency for International Cooperation and Development Solidarity, Abed Hallouz. Additionally, representatives from national enterprises in the hydrocarbons, energy, and electricity sectors accompanied the mission.
Warm welcome in N’Djamena
Upon landing at N’Djamena International Airport, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb was greeted by Chad’s Prime Minister Allamaye Halina and a high-level delegation of government officials and dignitaries. The ceremonial reception underscored the importance of the visit and the mutual commitment to advancing bilateral relations.
Bilateral talks to elevate strategic partnership
Following the welcome ceremony, the two Prime Ministers engaged in a bilateral working session to evaluate the progress of Algerian-Chadian relations. They explored avenues to inject renewed momentum into existing collaborations and expand the scope of cooperation across multiple sectors, reflecting a shared determination to elevate the partnership to higher levels.
The discussions also highlighted the common vision of both nations to foster solidarity and African cooperation through impactful, sustainable projects that directly contribute to economic and social development.
Inauguration of a 40-megawatt solidarity power plant
A cornerstone of the visit was the inauguration ceremony for a 40-megawatt Algerian-Chadian solidarity power plant in the Farcha industrial zone of N’Djamena. This project, implemented by Sonelgaz International, is a tangible demonstration of Algeria’s commitment to supporting sustainable development in brotherly African nations. The facility will be a gift from Algeria to Chad, in alignment with President Tebboune’s directives and the broader vision of fostering African integration.
As part of the visit, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb also held consultations with Chad’s President, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, to discuss avenues for reinforcing the Algerian-Chadian partnership and addressing key regional and continental issues of mutual interest.
The visit underscores the growing positive momentum in Algerian-Chadian relations, solidifying the resolve of both countries to elevate bilateral cooperation to unprecedented heights.
