Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko has unequivocally dismissed any attempts to challenge the nation’s recently enacted legislation, which significantly increases penalties for same-sex relations within the country.
Addressing members of parliament on Friday, Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko strongly denounced what he characterized as “Western tyranny.” He accused certain Western powers of seeking to “impose homosexuality on the rest of the world.” Sonko firmly rejected any notion of a moratorium on the implementation of the new law, which toughens sanctions against homosexual acts in the predominantly Muslim West African nation.
