After a disappointing season, Olympique de Marseille aims for a fresh start in the upcoming 2025-2026 campaign. Despite anticipated player departures due to financial constraints, the club is reportedly considering bringing back a familiar Ligue 1 forward. Martin Terrier’s name has emerged in Marseille, a prospect that reportedly excites the club’s new coach, Bruno Genesio.

Bruno Genesio has officially taken the reins as Olympique de Marseille’s new head coach, stepping in after Habib Beye’s tenure failed to turn the team’s fortunes around. The 59-year-old tactician, recently departing the LOSC, previously managed Stade Rennais, where he notably coached Martin Terrier. The 29-year-old forward, currently with Bayer Leverkusen since 2024, is seen as a strong candidate to bolster the OM squad.
Olympique de Marseille eyes Martin Terrier, Bruno Genesio expresses delight
Recent days have seen Martin Terrier’s name frequently mentioned in connection with the OM. The 29-year-old player could be a prime target for Marseille’s management as they plan their recruitment strategy. A move to OM would reunite him with Bruno Genesio, his former coach at Rennes, where Terrier enjoyed a successful spell between 2020 and 2024. “While it’s unlikely a player would directly call a sporting director to express interest, I can confirm Olympique de Marseille’s interest in Martin Terrier. Currently, there are only discussions with the player; no official offer has been made to Leverkusen. Conversations are ongoing between the parties. Bruno Genesio absolutely adores the player, he’s incredibly keen on him,” stated Thomas from La Tribune Olympienne.
Genesio’s strong endorsement: “he absolutely adores the player”
Officially appointed as the OM’s new coach, Bruno Genesio is tasked with guiding the club back to prominence. The former LOSC manager would be thrilled to welcome a player he has previously coached and knows exceptionally well. Martin Terrier, however, remains under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2029, with his current market value estimated at €9 million. Before any significant new acquisitions, the OM will likely need to facilitate several player departures to replenish its finances.
