Gabon’s ambassador in Tunisia outlines key diplomatic priorities

In a recent interview, Pierre Ntsiet Ngolo, Gabon’s Ambassador to Tunisia, outlined his strategic diplomatic roadmap following his appointment in March 2024 and the formal presentation of his credentials to Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed on November 6, 2025. With unwavering commitment, the seasoned diplomat and his team are determined to deepen the bond between Libreville and Tunis while safeguarding the welfare of Gabonese nationals residing in Tunisia.

One of the ambassador’s first initiatives was to foster unity within the Gabonese community in Tunisia. Mirroring the cohesive efforts seen in other diaspora networks worldwide, two new platforms have been established to promote solidarity and mutual support.

The first, the ‘Conseil des Gabonais de Tunisie’ (CGT), unites the approximately 1,000 Gabonese residents—including students, professionals, trainees, and families—around shared values of charity, equity, and brotherhood. The second, the ‘Association des Étudiants et Stagiaires Gabonais en Tunisie (AESGT)’, focuses specifically on supporting Gabonese students and interns navigating Tunisia’s academic landscape.

«This newfound cohesion within our community was vividly demonstrated during the first-ever Gabon Cultural Days, held on April 24–25, which showcased our collective strength in fostering solidarity and unity,« Ambassador Ntsiet Ngolo remarked with pride.

Strengthening bilateral ties

Central to the Gabon-Tunisia relationship is academic cooperation, with a significant number of Gabonese students and interns pursuing education in Tunisia. However, many face administrative hurdles, particularly regarding visa renewals, often compounded by delays in settling tuition fees. The ambassador has called on families and Gabon’s National Scholarship Agency to address these challenges promptly to ease the burden on students grappling with Tunisia’s stringent immigration policies.

Healthcare collaboration also ranks high on the agenda, with Gabon leveraging Tunisia’s advanced medical expertise through a partnership between the National Health Insurance Agency of Gabon (CNAMGS) and Tunisian healthcare providers specializing in medical evacuations.

«Our mission extends beyond maintaining existing partnerships—we must cultivate new opportunities that align with the developmental ambitions of both nations. This involves strengthening dialogue with institutional partners and prioritizing economic diplomacy, while exploring additional areas of mutual benefit, such as shared expertise and untapped potential for co-development,« the ambassador emphasized.

Economic partnerships and community support

«Tunisian economic operators have already signaled their intent to engage through trade missions, which could pave the way for investment agreements and strategic partnerships. These initiatives reflect a shared vision for sustainable pan-African prosperity,« Ntsiet Ngolo noted.

The ambassador has also prioritized consular assistance for Gabonese nationals in Tunisia, introducing measures to address long-standing concerns about neglect. «This call for unity has resonated strongly within the community, restoring hope and fostering a renewed sense of belonging,« he concluded.
