Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco strengthen ties through royal initiatives

During a meeting in Rabat on Thursday, Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kacou Adom, reaffirmed his country’s unwavering commitment to supporting Morocco’s royal-led initiatives aimed at advancing Africa’s development.

«The Ivorian government fully endorses these initiatives and stands firmly with Morocco to ensure their successful implementation in line with His Majesty’s vision», declared the minister following discussions with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.

Highlighting the dynamic nature of Moroccan-Ivorian cooperation, Kacou Adom emphasized the active role of the Moroccan private sector in bolstering Côte d’Ivoire’s economic growth. «The private sector has become a driving force, contributing significantly to the nation’s infrastructure and economic progress», he noted.

The two diplomats also agreed to reconvene soon to assess the progress of the Economic Impetus Group, aiming to enhance its efficiency and expand its impact.

Echoing this sentiment, Nasser Bourita expressed Morocco’s deep appreciation for Côte d’Ivoire’s consistent support regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue. «Côte d’Ivoire has remained a steadfast ally of Morocco on this crucial matter for the Kingdom», he stated.

He further added that «this unwavering stance has garnered great appreciation from His Majesty the King, the Moroccan people, and all sectors of society».

«Your nation stands as a key bilateral partner for the Kingdom of Morocco and a leading reference in Africa», Bourita affirmed.

He went on to describe Côte d’Ivoire as a «major regional partner» that plays a pivotal role in advancing royal initiatives, particularly the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project, which His Majesty the King holds in high regard.

Bourita revealed that «this transformative project is advancing rapidly toward realization, especially after the West African regional leaders’ endorsement of the intergovernmental agreement establishing the pipeline».

This meeting underscores the robust political, economic, and regional partnership between Rabat and Abidjan, poised to grow even stronger. From steadfast backing of Morocco’s Sahara sovereignty to thriving bilateral cooperation and alignment with key royal initiatives, Côte d’Ivoire solidifies its position as one of Morocco’s most trusted partners on the continent.
