Chad’s minister of mines commends sonemic’s pioneering innovations

On Monday, following the presentation of the annual report and a review of the mandate of the National Mining and Commercialization Company (SONEMIC), Chad’s Minister of Mines, Fatimé Haram Acyl, conveyed her profound satisfaction with the strategic vision championing local innovation.

The emphasis on indigenous innovation is a source of national pride. Minister Acyl stated she was « truly astonished » to discover a sophisticated software application, entirely developed by Chadians, which meticulously tracks all mining permits and seamlessly integrates with customs and tax authorities. This powerful tool, already cataloging 147 issued permits, represents a significant leap forward for transparency and reliability within the mining sector.

Furthermore, a forward-looking strategic vision guides these efforts. Minister Fatimé Haram Acyl highlighted ongoing initiatives: « We have initiated comprehensive mapping to ensure reliable data for specific provinces and proactively prevent potential conflicts. » She also revealed discussions with international collaborators, notably with « the Emirates regarding water transformation » and for establishing « an antimony refinery. » Such ambitious projects underscore a clear commitment to structurally transform Chad’s national economy.

Finally, effective leadership and clear communication are recognized as vital drivers for cohesion. The Minister stressed: « Excellent communication is essential; we must effectively convey the positive work being undertaken, foster a singular vision, move forward unitedly, and adhere to the policies set by the Head of State. » She emphasized that this unified approach is indispensable for positioning the mining and oil sectors as powerful engines for job creation and sustainable development in Chad.

This annual review signifies a pivotal moment for SONEMIC. The convergence of local innovation, detailed resource mapping, and strategic international partnerships is paving the way for a profound transformation across Chad’s mining and petroleum sectors. « I believe there is ample work for everyone, and I am confident that Chad will emerge victorious, » concluded the Minister, urging all stakeholders to fully embrace their roles in this collective endeavor.
