Seven humanitarian NGOs will showcase a powerful photo exhibition in Brussels, titled “In Their Eyes,” from January 23 to February 12 at the Halles Saint-Géry. The exhibition aims to shed light on Mali’s escalating humanitarian crisis, which has left over 6.4 million people in urgent need of assistance.

The exhibition is organized by seven prominent NGOs: Médecins du Monde, Action contre la Faim, Norwegian Refugee Council, Danish Refugee Council, International Medical Corps, International Rescue Committee, and Première Urgence Internationale, with support from the European Union.
The exhibition features around 30 powerful photographs taken by Malian photographer Tiécoura N’Daou in September 2025 across the Gao and Mopti regions of Mali. These regions are where the partner NGOs are actively implementing projects, supported by the European Union. The exhibition’s goal is to document the crisis “through the eyes of those who live it daily,” capturing the stories of displaced communities, loss, and the relentless efforts of humanitarian workers on the ground.
The humanitarian situation in Mali is described by NGOs as “deeply alarming“. Over 400,000 people are internally displaced, with women and children making up the majority. More than 1.5 million people face severe food insecurity, while 1.5 million children under five suffer from acute malnutrition. In 2024 alone, over 35,000 human rights violations were recorded in the country.
“In Their Eyes” invites visitors to confront the harsh realities faced by millions in Mali, encouraging reflection on the urgent need for international solidarity and support.
